69 Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Lead Service Projects

Sixty-nine outstanding young student leaders from across Texas successfully completed membership in Education in Action’s 2019-2020 Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council. Members each received a certificate of merit to honor the contributions they made to their communities through the service projects they led this school year as Alumni Council members.

Initially, members participated in the Lone Star Leadership Academy, a weeklong leadership development summer camp. As graduates of this program, they were invited to join the Alumni Council to continue developing their leadership skills during the school year. They completed leadership modules to pinpoint their interests and talents and to identify a need in their community about which they were passionate. They used the information to create and lead a service project of their choosing. A description and photo of each student’s service project is available at

The 2019-2020 Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council members represented 45 school districts, four private schools, and one homeschool. Education in Action offers the Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council program each school year to further its mission, to empower young people to be informed and active leaders in their communities.

This year, we're kicking-off the 2020-2021 Alumni Council early, in July! This will provide Lone Star Leadership Academy alumni AND those whose summer 2020 camp experience was postponed until summer 2021, with opportunities to develop their leadership skills with us this summer as 2020 Lone Star Leadership Academy camps were cancelled. Students that were signed up to attend summer 2020 Lone Star Leadership Academy camps, in addition to all past year's campers, are invited to join the 2020-2021 Alumni Council and may register online at: Registration deadline is June 30, 2020.
