Pre/Post-Field Trip Curriculum

We hope your students are excited about your upcoming 'Texas in the Making' Discover Texas Field Trip! Here are some pre- and post-field trip activities that will help your students get the most out of their experience.

Vocabulary Terms

It is important that the students become familiar with the Texas in the Making vocabulary words before the field trip so they can actively participate in activities and get the most out of the experience. We have provided the vocabulary terms, definitions and pictures that will be covered. In addition, we have attached a PDF of the terms and definitions that you can print and share with your class.

The Alamo Digital Battlefield: Then and Now

These digital battlefield visualizations show the Alamo Battlefield as it appeared in 1836, juxtaposed with how the same space appears today. These visualizations can be viewed on your smart phone, tablet or computer.

Texas State Symbols

In addition, students will need to know the state symbols for one of the bus activities.

Kid's House Website

Finally, the Texas House of Representatives offers a Kids' House website that includes many classroom activity ideas. This is a great resource for post-field trip activities.
